50's Style Field Day

My sweet class and our poster of the teacher's for the 50's display in the gym!!
I was so excited my boys got to come to school with me for their first field day experience! :)

Logan learning to hula hoop and Spencer enjoying the cold snacks! (Also, it is hard to see in the picture, but Logan's face was painted like a little puppy! So cute!!)
During all the busyness of the rehearsal on Thursday and getting ready for B & K's wedding, I worked half day on Friday morning. I wanted to be at school because it was our field day and I didn't want to miss it. I LOVE how our school does field day and it ends up being a lot of fun for the kids and teachers. It isn't your typical field day, with team events and ribbons. It is more like a carnival, where the kids get to go to different stations. It is also themed every year and this year it was called "Pecan Creek Rockin' Field Day 2009!" The stations change every year depending on our theme and some of the ones this year included: bounce houses, banana splits, bowling, hula hoops, Frisbees, jump rope, face painting, "Diner Dash", hop scotch, twister, 4 square, pick up sticks, etc. Our P.E. teachers and volunteers work LONG hours to make this a special day for the kids. The school was decorated to the hilt and the assembly before field day was FABULOUS!! The assembly is basically just a performance by our "power paws" jump team and dancing by the teachers to get the kids pumped up! Most of the parents and siblings of our students/staff come out for our field day. This year I was excited that my parents were in town, so they could bring my kids. Logan actually rode to school with me that day and was there to greet my students in the morning. My students love my boys because I talk about them so much!! Logan was so cute and acted like a little Kindergartener while he was in here. He even walked in line with "bubbles" and "duck tales" with my class to our assembly. Spencer on the other hand showed up with my parents right in time for all the dancing. He is such a little "ham" and performed for everyone in the gym with all his dance moves. I so wish I would have had my camera during this, but I didn't. All the pictures above were taken by someone else, who sent them to me later. I might have some more coming in, that I will add to another post later! The boys had such a blast at mommy's work and didn't want to leave. But, grandma and grandpa were so HOT from chasing the boys, that the fun had to come to an end!! :) When I left at 11:30, I was so hot and tired too! But instead of a nap, I ran home for a shower and Red Bull and kept on going to the wedding!! :) Good times!!
