Prayer Request for Spencer

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We had a very nice Christmas at home with just the four of us. We did Christmas with Stephen's family the weekend before and traveled down to my parents the day after Christmas. We are still here, so I won't be able to post pictures until I get home. But, I just wanted to write a quick prayer request for Spencer. We went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago because he had been coughing/wheezing. The doctor told us to start breathing treatments again 4 times a day until after the holidays. We weren't that concerned because we have gone through this with Logan many times before. Well, over Christmas he didn't seem much better and was even waking up in the middle of the night with labored breathing. So, I made an appointment last Friday for him. Immediately when the doctor saw him, she didn't like the way he was struggling for air and his oxygen level was around 90%. So, she had him do a breathing treatment in the office for about 15 minutes. She came back to check on him and he was still breathing pretty hard. Which meant she wanted to do another treatment again. His breathing got a little better, but wanted to send him for a chest x-ray. Oh, and to make matters worse she checked his ears and he had a double ear infection on top of his breathing problem. (He has had over 6 infections in the last couple of months, which means we are heading to the ENT for tubes very soon too.) Anyway, after 2 hours in the doctors and us trying to leave town, we headed to the hospital to get a chest x-ray. It was the saddest thing I have had to watch in a long time. They put him in this plastic tubing, with his hands in the air and his feet dangling. They use this contraption to restrain babies, so they won't move during the scan. Let's just say that Spencer and I were both bawling during the whole thing. Well, a few hours later they called to let me know that Spencer had the early stages of pneumonia and would call to let me know if the test comes back positive for RSV in a couple of days. So, now Spencer is on an antibiotic for his ears and pneumonia and we are having to do breathing treatments every two hours for awhile. He seems to be feeling better, but I still hear a lot of wheezing in his chest. We will go back this week, to see how he is doing. Please pray that his little lungs are getting stronger and he is recovering from his pneumonia.
Also, a couple of weeks ago we have found out that Spencer has to wear a helmet because of some cosmetic head issues. We visit the cranial specialist this Friday, so I will have more details on that later. Most babies who wear the caps, are much younger than Spencer. And, I do know that he will have to wear it for 23 hours a day for a couple of months. My other prayer request is that Spencer's head will be corrected from wearing the cap and that he won't be too bothered by it. I am just worried that he won't like it too much and it will annoy him. I just pray he will get used to it pretty quickly or that he won't notice it too much.

So basically we need prayer for Spencer's little lungs, possible tube surgery and comfort while having to wear his new helmie! It is all a little overwhelming for me, but I know God is in control! Thank you for your prayers!!!

I'll put little Spencer on my prayer list. He's a cutie. Just have faith and remember that children adjust to things better than we do and bounce back fast.

We will be praying for Spencer. The helmet is not as bad as you think. Ellie wore hers for about 2months and never really noticed it. Make sure you get it decorated, they are adorable that way. Love and miss you all, Lindsay

Hi Jo, I know this is a very stressful time for you and Stephen, but Spencer has good, loving parents who can nurse him back to good health. Bill and I will be praying for all of you and hope that Spencer starts to feel better quickly. Sorry we missed you in Killeen. Keep us posted on Spencer. Love you, CD
